The List

I have Dercum's Disease. It's a bizarre little-known condition that's rather difficult to diagnose and even harder to treat. Over the course of 2006, I will have to endure at least eight operations to attempt to reverse the effects this disease has had on my body. Being cooped up the way I am, I've found myself getting increasingly frustrated with what all I can't do right now. I'm usually stuck in bed, so the world seems to be passing me by. In an attempt to get my mind off what's going on now, I've decided to make a list of all the things I want to do, all the things I want to see, all the places I want to go, and so on. I'll be adding to this list throughout the upcoming months as I day-dream myself some place else. Then hopefully, once all of this is over and done with and my life is back to normal, I'll finally be able to accomplish all the things I've laid out for myself here, on The List.

1 - I will train, I will race for Ferrari.
2 - Monaco: I'm going to go to Monaco for the famous Formula 1 race.
3 - I'm going to buy this dress and look fabulous in it.
4 - I want to travel the world, learning the depths and complexities of the major religions, participating in their rites and holidays as if I were one of their own, so that I may come to a greater understanding of God, His people, my global family, and how we might come to understand one another, celebrating our differences and respecting our individuality.
5 - I want to be the lone pale white girl, boogyin' down in my hot pink sari in a Bollywood musical. And I don't mean the typical club scene: I want it to be one of those celebration dances in full Indian garb. I'll be the white girl in the back, gettin' funky with my white self. :)
